I went to see the fireworks at english bay yesterday.

I went with a friend. We first had dinner at some sushii place. I had Japanese Fried Chicken. After dinner, we went to a electronic stores we checked out the cell phones and HDTV. Cell phones are so nice these days, and HDTV are awesome. After going to the elctronic store, we went to a book store and read magazine. I read some graphics/web design magazine. The magazine gave me an idea for making a checkered board style website.

Lastly, we watch the fireworks at English bay. It was amazing the explosion sounds, music, and fireworks were great.

The bus ride home was very crowded.

Almost finish my Linux tutorial site and doing other things.

I am nearly finish my Linux tutorial site at http://johnson-yip.com/ . I made a how to install Ubuntu 9.04, and Burn a Cd image of Ubuntu 9.04 on to a CD with Deep Burner which is a great Free CD/DVD burning program for Windows which is easy to use and fast. I made over 12 tutorials in two days. I also attended my friends birthday party. It was great. We played golf. I got a hole in two which was very unexpected since I'm not very good at golf. We ate a tall rotating restaurant which was pretty fun. The view was great. After Dinner we went to the movies to watch the new Pixar film called UP. I enjoyed it a lot. The story of a boy and a old man traveling to paradise falls in South America is great. After the movie, we went to the "Bread Garden Restaurant to have Coffee" I got my friend A Lego Batman video game for the Xbox 360.

I also upgraded a few of MySQL 4 databases for my website to MySQL5. It was pretty easy. All I did was backup my mySQL4 DB and made a new MySQL5 DB and exported my MySQL4 DB into it.
I think I go play videogames, study for my Comptia A+ exam since I still need to learn some MS-DOS, Windows OS, networking, and Costumer Service info. related to my A+ exam.
I been spending a lot of time on making tutorials and updating my websites. It can get kind of addicting since web design, and making content is so much fun when I love the topic I am writing about.
I also made some Twitter backgrounds.

What I did today: Volunteered, and made meta tags

I woke up at 11 AM , and ate lunch. I volunteered at Freegeek from 12PM to 2PM. I watched I walked home and it was 2:30 PM. I ate something and drank tea. I watch Pretty cure at 3PM, cooked an omelot.

I added Meta tags to my Drupal site at http://johnson-yip.com and installed a drupal meta tage module called nodewords which let you add meta tags to your frontpage and all your drupal content. I wish drupal added this module by default since it is rather useful.

I disabled caching on some of my CMS sites because I did not really need caching since my sites do not get a lot of traffic and it tends to take up a bit of space on my mySQL databases for my CMS sites.

Some wordpress plugins I recommend are http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sociable/

All-IN-ONE is a SEO meta tag builder for wordpress and sociable is a social bookmarking plugin.

Made a How to install Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, and phpbb3 tutorial.

Learn how to install Drupal , Joomla, Wordpress, and phpbb3 by reading my blog at http://johnsonyip.com/wordpress.

All the tutorials I made for installing cms, and a forum on your website require php 4, and mySQL 4 databases.

The tutorials on my blog are set up in a step by step fashion with pictures, so you can follow them easily.

Drupal, and Joomla are content magagement systems.

Wordpress is used for blogging.

phpBB3 is a forum software.

They are all free to use, and open source.

I found installing Drupal 6 the hardest.

The rest are pretty easy to install.

What I did today. (Backup site, made tutorials related to blogs, and watch TV)

I backed up all my sites files, and most of my SQL database files. I made a few tutorials on backing up wordpress and bloggers comments, posts, tags, pages, and a tutorial on updating the plugins on wordpress. read my posts at http://johnsonyip.com/wordpress

I watch Pretty Cure at 7 AM in the morning, watch two episodes of Sonic the hedgehog, and two episodes of gogoricki, a episode of Blue Dragon.

I plan on watching Naruto, and Bleach from 12 AM - 1AM.

Today is a moderately hot day.

I think I either go play video games, watch TV, or make some more tutorials for the rest of the day.

I think I have a popsicle or ice cream today since it's hot, and I am thirsty.

I'm not sure what I do tommorrow. I probably most likely watch TV, or go out for a little while to look for a gift for my friend's birthday.

I think I will make a "how to install Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, phpbb3 tutorial in the near future" since I know how to install them and a lot of people probably want to know how to install them.

I also make a How to install Ubuntu 9.04 tutorials since I feel more people should learn about free alternatives to Windows and Mac Operating System computers since they are not stuvk paying for something they dislike, or can use the $100-200 they save for something more useful like paying for web hosting, food, clothes, bills, shoes, and electronics then buying an OS they might not need.

Wow, I just learned that I can easily backup my Blogger posts and comments in one simple step.

Go to Setings and click on export blog.

Google done it again making it simple for everyone to back up their blogs unlike other sites which don't even have a export blog setting. Good job blogspot!

I finally finsh a bunch of tutorials that I wanted to finish on my other blogs and websites.

I made a bunch of tutorials on my linux tutorial sites like how to convert an open office document file to be compatible with Word, how to install a firewall on Ubuntu, How to install Wine on Ubuntu to run Windows software. You can check out my updates at http://johnson-yip.com

I made a tutorial on my other blog to teach people how to update wordpresss, install plugin for wordpress, and modules for joomla and drupal. Changing the theme templates for drupal, wordpress. Read my other blog at http://johnsonyip.com/wordpress

I'm so happy the tutorials are finally done. I think I do a bigger tutorial on installing Ubuntu 9.04 on a computer this week or next week.

I got a phone call from a friend who is planing to invite me to his birthday party next Saturday. I still need to go out to find a gift for him on Saturday or Sunday.

I think I get him a Game for the Wii, Xbox 360, anime DVD, or movie which is rexently release.

Well, today is a sunny day in Vancouver, Canada. It is getting kind of hot.

Yesterday night I was doing quizes from a A+ prep quiz book. I notice I have the most problems related to CPU socket types, Networking, and Mother board slots.

Watched part of MJ memorial service, Volunteered, made a joomla module installation, customizing tutorial, and going to bed soon.

Today I watch part of Michael Jackson Memorial service, but I did not had time to watch the entire service on TV since I had to go volunteer at Freegeek where I dismantled computers for recycling.

MJ memorial service was very well done. I am glad there wasn't any drama like some people predicted there will be.

I also made a Joomla 1.5 module tutorial at my blog which teach Joomla 1.5 administrators how to install, enable, and customize their modules on Joomla 1.5.

I am going to bed soon since it is 12 AM. Good Night Guys and Girls.

I think I make some tutorials on Open Office and installing a firewall on Ubuntu in the future.

July 6, 2009

Finish some tutorials on installing and uninstalling programs on Ubuntu, and installing Flash player for Firefox in Ubuntu 8.05+

My install and uninstall tuturial for Ubuntu is done, and my flash player installation tutorial for firefox 2-3.5 is also done.

I plan on making a install and customize Joomla 1.5 Moudle tutorial tommorrow after volunteering at freegeek.

I also installed a Paypal donation module on my Joomla site which will be featured on my Joomla 1.5 moudle extensions tutorial.

Other news, I learned how Alexa Traffic rank works. Everytime someone with the alexa toolbar visit your site it increases your rank a little bit.

Today was a rainy day. It was also a cold day.

Tommorrow is Michael Jackson's Memorial Service. RIP. MJ. I hope it goes smoothly without any major problems.

Installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a old P4 computer.

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a old P4 computer. I notice Ubuntu 9.04 boots pretty fast compared to Vista, XP, and Ubuntu 8.10. It was pretty simple to install and update on my computer. I made a 40GB partition on a 200GB drive.

The included programs for it is pretty good.
