Improving Speed Range Performance of your Tablets, Smartphone eReader or Laptop Wireless Wi-Fi signal speed

The Amazon Kindle Fire eReader Tablet has a 802.11N Wireless router, so it is capable of speeds up to 300 Mbps, but if your wireless network and router is not optimized for faster speeds, you might get slower speeds when you connect your Tablet, eReader, or Laptop connects to it.

You can first see if you can optimize your WiFi Router to see if there are any settings on improving your Wireless routers settings. There are settings like Gaming Mode, and Higher strength signal settings to make your router more faster and reliable. Also, make sure your router is located in an open area where there is nothing blocking it, and the antennae is pointing upwards if your router has an external antennae. Make sure your router is not overheating by place it in a well ventilated area in your room. You can try changing your Router's wireless channel to a different channel to see if it helps your speed and reliability. Restarting your router by unplugging it from the wall, and re plugging it in your wall power outlet may improve your routers speed.

You can also set your router or network adapter to Google DNS because Google is one of the fastest and most reliable DNS servers. Your computer use DNS to translate domain name like example.com into IP numbers which is used to communicate with Websites.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are the IP addresses for setting up Google DNS in your DNS settings for your network adapter and Router for improve DNS look up speed.

You can also buy a 802.11N Wireless Router which is faster then 802.11G wireless routers, so you may experience faster internet speeds if your internet provider provides a connection which is faster then 54 MBps, or when you are streaming content locally on your home network.

Using a Wireless Booster can also make your wireless signal reach farther and stronger by boosting the signal.

If you want faster speeds on your laptop, but have a newer 802.11 N Wireless router, but your laptop use 802.11G, 802.11B, or your Wireless adapter is failing then upgrading to 802.11N USB Wireless adapter will give you faster speeds on your wireless network, and possibly improve range if the USB N Wireless Adapter is more well made.

Restarting your Tablet, eReader, Laptop, Desktop, or other device could also restore your speed, range and connection if your problems are related to software, or overheating computer hardware.

Sometimes, it could be your web browser, and apps slowing down your internet experience if you have a desktop, laptop, tablet, or Smartphone which is compatible with Google Chrome which works for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich I recommend you try it.

Opera Mini, and Opera Mobile are also good web browsers which has a turbo mode which compresses your internet data, so you download your files faster while saving your bandwidth when you browse the web on tablets, and smartphones.

Dolphin Browser HD, the Default Android Web Browser, Boat Browser and Maxthon for Android are also pretty fast Web browsers for Android.

If you use a desktop, laptop, Windows 7 Tablet, or other Windows device, you should also scan your computer for viruses since they can also slow down your PC internet.

Improving your Wi-Fi performance on your Kobo Vox color eReader!

The Kobo Vox Color eReader Wi-Fi adapter is very good. I can pick up Wi-Fi signals from a few houses a way. But, if you have a older wireless router which uses 802.11 b or g then you might be missing out on the high performance of 802.11N which the Kobo Vox's Wi-Fi adapter uses.

These tips will also improve the wireless performance and  wireless signal range for your laptop, computer, smartphone, gaming handheld, Tablet, eReaders, and other wireless devicess which uses Wi-Fi to go online, or network with other computers and devices.

This means streaming video to your Vox from your computer, or streaming video from your Vox to your laptop might be a lot slower since you are using an older version of Wireless networking which is 802.11 N which can acheive speeds up to 450Mbps vs 54Mbps with 802.11G or 11 Mbps with 802.11B.

If you have internet like Fibre Optic, T3, or higher end broadband internet, you'll notice a huge difference when using an 802.11G router like D-Link DIR-655 Extreme-N Gigabit Wireless Router which has a max speed of 450Mbps and better signal range then most older wireless router's. This mean you'll be able to surf the internet, stream video from your computer to your Vox with an App, or stream video from your Vox to your PC even when you are outside at super high speeds.
If you use your Vox to wirelessly share files with a laptop or desktop computer via an Wi-Fi sharing App, buying a 802.11N Wireless USB adapter like the D-Link DWA-130 Wireless-N USB Adapter  for your desktop and laptop can speed things up and extend the range of the signal instead of using slower wireless adapter which came with your PC or laptop. You can also use Internet Connection sharing to convert your Wired internet service into Wireless in Windows XP, Vista, and 7, so if you don't have access to wireless internet, but you have access to cable to DSL internet you can use Windows Internet Sharing Connection wizard to share your internet connection with your Kobo Vox and other Wi-Fi devices via ICS.

TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless G TEW-432BRP Router, good for the price.

I been using the TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless G TEW-432BRP Router for over 3 years as both a wired and wired router. It works great as a wired router for splitting my Cable Broadband connection with 3 computers, and a Xbox 360, so they all have internet via Ethernet network cabling. With Cable Broadband internet connections, it does not require configuration in most cases unlike DSL which usually requires a username and password to go online.
